Edible Intestines

When searching the web for easy Halloween baking ideas, I’d always come across zombie guts, or bloody intestines, made out of ready-made cinnamon rolls and jam. For some reason, I just couldn’t fathom that it could be as easy as they said. Two ingredients, really? And they turn out THAT good? Well friends, I finally tried it out myself, and wow. Jeepers creepers these things came out amazing! So effective, so morbid, and (my favorite) cheap. These would be perfect to make as a Halloween breakfast or party dish.

Ingredients:

2 cans ready-made cinnamon rolls with icing

1/3 cup + extra strawberry or raspberry jam (I chose raspberry, but any red jam will do)

  1. Preheat oven according to instructions on your tube of cinnamon rolls (Mine was 400F)

  2. Unroll each roll and lay in a 9x13” baking dish. Repeat in a twisty turny fashion to resemble intestines. Leave a little bit of space between dough so there is room for the rolls to puff up.

  3. Bake according to instructions. Mine baked about 10 minutes. Let cool.

  4. Mix the icing with about a 1/3 cup jam until its nice and smooth. Spoon the mixture over the rolls, covering every bit. If more color is desired, spread more jam on top. Make sure to get into the nooks and crannies to really make your guts pop.

  5. Eat your intestines like a zombie by feasting with bare hands from the very middle of the pan and letting “blood” get all over your face.
