The Full Moon Cocktail

Warning: If you’ve ever been a werewolf, this content may be triggering.

If you are looking for a spooky cocktail that is more elegant than gory, might I suggest this gorgeous full-moon cocktail. The shimmery black color and spherical ice create a beautiful night sky effect, and it doesn’t taste too bad either. The black color comes from activated charcoal which can be a controversial ingredient. In my research, I felt it was safe for consumption in moderation, and you only need a tiny bit to get that rich dark color. But don’t just take my word for it, do your own research and decide how you feel. And of course, you can always opt for black food coloring instead.

Ingredients:

spherical ice cube

2 oz gin or vodka

1 oz blackberry cocktail syrup

.5 oz lemon juice

club soda (for topping off)

2 pinches activated charcoal

1 pinch edible silver pearl dust

Add the ice sphere to a chilled coupe or martini glass. Then, add all ingredients except the club soda to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. Strain into glass, top off with club soda, and enjoy!

The great thing about this cocktail is that it is super versatile. You can still achieve the beautiful full moon effect with countless flavor combinations. I opted for a blackberry and lemon flavor, but feel free to swap in your favorites. I’d love to hear any delicious combos or substitutions you made so let me know in the comments. Cheers to you my spooky friends 🌕🍸☠️
